QStudio for Java Pro now free for the Java development community

Effective immediately QA Systems is releasing the single user QStudio for Java Pro at no cost to the Java development community.

"The free Pro version will remain fully supported and will stay current with the developer client functionality of the Enterprise version and we will continue to have the broadest IDE coverage in the marketplace. Developers may use the Pro freely within or without their corporation. A corporation can make use of the Pro at no cost and can purchase optional support if desired", said Roelof Vuurboom, CEO, QA Systems, "By providing this tool - which is the most sophisticated in the marketplace - at no cost to the Java development community, QA Systems is consolidating its market leadership in the area of static analysis tooling in the Java domain".

Apart from its sophisticated analysis capabilities including user definition capabilities, QStudio is unique in incorporating an explicit quality model allowing a direct tie-in to corporate quality processes as well as a seamless migration capability to the multi-user Enterprise version which allows software process managers (project managers and QA managers) and software developers to automate, coordinate and support quality control through a distributed software quality control system.

Pro 2.0 release: significant enhancements

Pro 2.0 - to be released beginning September - has two significant enhancements: rules for Enterprise Java Bean support and the ability to analyse incomplete Java source bases.

This second feature is a particularly powerful enhancement. In the past if during analyse of a Java project a file was encountered in which information of declarations/imports could not be resolved (due to missing classes) then that file was discarded and QStudio continued onto the following file in the project for analysis.

In Pro 2.0, QStudio now differentiates between those rules requiring the missing information and those rules that do not. As approximately 80% of the rules only need local information to be applied this implies that now 80% of the rules can continue to be applied in incomplete environments. This is a crucial improvement for very large Java projects in particular.

Enterprise 2.0 to be released beginning of October

QStudio Enterprise 2.0 will be released at the beginning of October. Besides incorporating the Pro 2.0 analysis capabilities major improvements are being made in improving ease of installation of the product.

Support for IntelliJ and NetBeans Integrated Development Environments

Java IDE coverage will be extended to include both IntelliJ and NetBeans. QStudio for Java already has the broadest IDE coverage in the industry and this will serve to consolidate that position. IntelliJ and NetBeans support expected in October.

QStudio for C announced

QA Systems will be releasing its QStudio for C product later this year. QA Systems has received numerous requests from its customers to provide support for C as many large Java shops continue to have large C develoment activities also. Stay tuned.
