Introduction

In this webinar QA Systems will discuss and demonstrate how the automated unit and integration testing tool Cantata can accelerate your safety standards compliance. We will see how embedded industry leaders employ the latest easy to use techniques for requirements tracing, automatic test case generation and code coverage for embedded safety critical C & C++. Learn how to cut the costs of certified testing, and shorten your time to market in this introduction to Cantata.

Content

This webinar will discuss safety critical best practices and methods for C/C++ unit and integration testing and demonstrate how use of Cantata can accelerate the testing activities mandated by safety critical standards: ISO2626 (Automotive), IEC26304 (Medical), IEC 61508 (Industrial), DO-178C (Avionics) and more. We will cover the topics below, followed by answering participants questions.

  • What testing do the standards require? – Explanation of the verification methods and techniques recommended, where Cantata fits in, and how to ease the path to regulatory standards compliance with tool certification.
  • What is needed for effective requirements based testing? – Assessment of quality and level of requirements for unit & integration levels of testing. How full-bidirectional requirements traceability can be achieved with the Cantata Trace drag and drop function for linking requirements to test cases and integrations with requirements tools.
  • What is the role of code coverage – Discussion of coverage metrics required by standards’ Safety Integrity Levels, and how Cantata advanced coverage analysis diagnostics drives more effective unit and integration tests.
  • How can automatic test case generation reduce cost? – Analysis of where and how test automation can be applied to safety critical software. From test framework set-up, through test case generation to continuous integration and deployment, we assess the benefits of different approaches taken by Cantata users for automation of requirements-based testing, robustness testing, regression testing, creating baselines and plugging gaps with specialised test unit and integration testing techniques.
  • What test reporting and evidence is needed? – Comparison of the various Cantata test reports and their roles is test diagnostics, providing management actionable data on status, and provision of evidence required by safety standards.
  • Will Cantata be right for my project? – Explanation of how to integrate Cantata into an embedded safety critical software development toolchain. How users have effectively deployed Cantata to accelerate their unit / integration testing and best practices for achieving return on investment in the tool.
